Mathematics

THIS SECTION IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

While I work on this section I have just included some of my undergraduate work.

For my BSc I wrote an essay on ‘The History of the Law of Quadratic Reciprocity‘ which I believe is one of the truly great results in number theory. If you don’t know this result then I implore you to find out more about it, a good place to start is the Wikipedia page. Its history is long and there are several books on the subject (the best I have read is Franz Lemmermeyer’s Reciprocity Laws) but I hope my essay provides an overview of the history.

For my masters project I investigated ‘Real and Complex Reflection Groups‘ – specifically using GAP. This project is intended for a graduate of mathematics reader, but should (at least the first half) be accessible to people from their second year onwards. It is a project based in group theory, but does not assume any specific knowledge in the field.
